AS NO ONE He was born. AS SOMEONE He did not choose July 29, 1965 as his date of birth, but he got it. He did not want to be a child of poor family, but he was: he was bullied by fate. ‘ AS A LEARNER Amazingly, fate favored him: he was born with love of learning. What’s more, he was born with tremendous resilience, with strong determination, with love of art, with love of literature, with love of wisdom, with intellectual curiosity etc. AS AN AUTHOR AND TRANSLATOR His love of literature cannot be separated from him: he himself is literature. He never spent a day without reading. Though his formal education ended in primary level for several reason, mainly because his parents could no longer afford to school him, his intellectual curiosity makes him be a life-long learner of things. He studied English with the crazy aim to write novels in English. Nothing, no mishap could make him abandon his hope and aim. The result is that he has written two novels in English and one of those novels titled THE FILM was published in UK in 2019. He also wrote MAUNG DI IS WHAT in English. It is a book about Maung Di and his art. It was published by AM art gallery in Myanmar. He also translates Myanmar poems into English. And one two collections of his translated poems were published in Myanmar. He writes essays on art, art philosophy and art history, too. His essays on conceptual art appeared in Atway Amyin magazine, his essays on minimal art, in Hlaing This magazine. Now he is translating Tony Godfrey’s The Story of Contemporary Art into Myanmar. He has already translated two novels- Salmon Rushdie’s VICTORY CITY and Kurt Vonnegut’s SLAUGHTER-HOUSE-FIVE into Myanmar. Now he is working on his third novel of which working title is THE LOST VICTIM. AS AN ARTIST His love of art cannot be separated from him: he himself is art. He was born with art. Fate, however, did not permit him to be an artist easily. Fate tested him in the worst means. He challenged his fate, and finally, fate gave up. His intellectual curiosity, his habit of intellectual meditation on what he experiences and perceives, his love of Jazz, his interest in Zen and in Buddhist Abhidhamma might have impact on his art and on his practice of making art to some extent. He arranged his first concept-based solo show titled NOTHING CAN EXIST ALONE at Lokanat Art Gallery in 2012. One decade later, in 2023, his second solo show titled EMPTY was exhibited at Omm art gallery. The idea comes from a famous Zen story. This is his third solo titled WHO IS IT? He reserves his time for studying Jazz and philosophy of Jazz. He sees that improvisation of Jazz is partly linked to his way of making art. While making art, he sometimes let things happen as they do: he does not interfere in the process. He just waits for the result for the next process. To him, literature and art are not two things, just one. AS NO ONE He just lives life.
