Aung Myint

Artist Aung Myint, founder of The Inya Art Gallery, was born in 1946, in Yangon. It was during his days as a student at Rangoon University that he started to exhibit, as a self-taught artist, his first show in 1960. ⁠ ⁠ Today, as a leading figure in Myanmar's contemporary art scene Aung Myint is often called the father of Myanmar’s Modern Art demonstrating versatility as an artist beyond painting with performance and sculptural works. ⁠ ⁠ You can see Aung Myint’s artworks at The National Art Gallery, Singapore; The National Gallery, Malaysia; Fukuoka Art Museum, Japan; Macau Performance Art Museum; Macau; Vehbi Koc Foundation, Turkey; Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York City, USA.
